Property Tax Consulting and Protesting Appraisals – Special Service offered by Peyco Southwest Realty
As you may know, one of PKLA’s goals for the 2018-2019 year has been monitoring and impacting the assessment of local ad valorem taxes in Palo Pinto county, especially as they effect the lake community. Also the Board knows that, to the extent possible, a unified voice from the lake community is effective in speaking to the appraisal district’s fair market valuation processes and the ensuing assessment of property taxes by the taxing entities.
To facilitate a unified “one voice” for property tax valuations made by the Palo Pinto County Appraisal District, the Board at a recent meeting entertained a presentation by Jim Maibach with Peyco Southwest Realty from Arlington, Texas. Jim and his firm provide a wide range of realty services, including property tax consulting and protesting appraised values. Jim owns property at the lake and is also a member of PKLA. His firm represents 400+ property owners in Palo Pinto county, including a large number of owners around the lake.
The Board determined to offer Jim’s services to PKLA membership and in exchange Jim has agreed to provide a $50 discount on his services (making the down payment $250) to PKLA members. Please consider Jim and Peyco for your property tax needs, including analysis of your Notice of Appraised Value from the appraisal district. GOVERNOR ABBOTT APPOINTS LATTIMORE, LOCAL RESIDENT, TO BRAZOS RIVER AUTHORITY BOARD OF DIRECTORS; TO BE SWORN IN WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 4, AT 11 A.M. AT PALO PINTO COURTHOUSE
AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott has appointed James (Jim) P. Lattimore, Jr., to the Brazos River Authority (BRA) Board of Directors for a term to expire February 1, 2019. The BRA exists to develop, manage and protect the water resources of the Brazos River basin. Created by the Texas Legislature in 1929, the BRA was the first state agency in the United States established specifically for the purpose of developing and managing the water resources of an entire river basin. The BRA develops and distributes water supplies, provides water and wastewater treatment, monitors water quality, and pursues water conservation through public education programs.
The governing body of the BRA, the Board of Directors, consists of 21 members from across the State of Texas who are appointed by the governor and subject to confirmation by the Texas Senate. Lattimore will be sworn in by the Hon. David Nicklas, County Judge of Palo Pinto, on Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 11:00 a.m. at the Palo Pinto County Courthouse.
“I look forward to the opportunity to represent the interests of not only the people of Texas but those of Possum Kingdom in the policy making decisions of this body,” said Lattimore. “I am committed to working with the BRA to ensure a continued balance between the appropriate use and conservation of our precious natural resources.”
Jim Lattimore of Graford is owner of The Lattimore Company and is a member of numerous professional, church and civic organizations. Additionally, he is a former Director and immediate past President of the Possum Kingdom Lake Association. Lattimore received a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in aerospace engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army.
